Being human is not a sin

Those wonderful lyrics above from Canadian singer songwriter Gordon Lightfoot carry deep meaning in view of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it has been distorted.

It seems that the best preachers and prophets are not inside the institution called the church but are outside it’s walls. Modern singer songwriters are used all the time by Father God to convey His love and acceptance.

Father must use these non-religious ones because most preachers declare the opposite of what He wants to say.

The church spends a lot of time condemning others because it condemns itself and is holding onto an old testament view of itself as constantly falling short of God with a heart that is desperately wicked and unclean.

If only I could be holy like Jesus!!! the church cries in total unbelief and ignorance.

I was born to sing my song, I was born to try to reach someone
To penetrate the iron will, to try to make men understand
That being a human is no sin at all
That beauty lies within the wounds, of lonliness and dark despair
That heals to fall but still to rise again

Gordon Lightfoot

To try to make men understand that being human is no sin at all!!

Why does he have to try to make men and women understand this? Because WE DO NOT BELIEVE IT. The iron will he writes about is this wall of SHAME which keeps us trapped in unbelief until the day we hear –really hear the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ.

10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

GOOD TIDINGS!! TO ALL PEOPLE!! What? Please tell us this good news…

It is this.—A SAVIOUR –WHO IS CHRIST THE LORD is born!

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

The message from God via the multitude of preaching angels is peace and goodwill towards mankind….In other words GRACE and FAVOUR towards all mankind BECAUSE JESUS is COME.

We hear this message at Christmas time – but it is the eternal gospel of the Father towards us ALL.

All of us are loved and highly esteemed by God our Father regardless of where we are at in our earthly journey.

All of us BENEFIT from what Jesus did on the cross. All of us.

Man was falling short. Man was under the curse of the Law. Man was hostile towards God.

But God HAS reconciled all men to Himself!

God HAS justified all people through Jesus Christ’ sacrifice.

God HAS ALREADY FORGIVEN us all trespasses–ALL PEOPLE ARE ALREADY FORGIVEN through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

He is the ATONING SACRIFICE not only for us who believe BUT ALSO FOR ALL THE WORLD!! 1 John 2:1

Any preacher who makes a person feel ashamed of being human is NOT preaching the GOOD NEWS of the Gospel.

You see it does not matter what we think about mankind but what matters is what God thinks.

It does not matter how we see BUT HOW GOD SEES. Sure how we see effects us in that how we see can make us miserable. But if we learn to see all things AS GOD SEES THEM then we shall know His JOY.

12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This is what GOD HAS DONE for all humans. He has laid aside every weight and the sin that ensnared us. How so?

The weight of the old covenant was UNBEARABLE and no man can be made right with God through trying to keep it. And the reason why we try and try to be made right with God by our own efforts at obedience is because of a thing called sin.

This sin that so easily ensnares us is the unbelief of the old man. That old man that we had always thought we were did not believe it needed God in order to be like God. So it strove to be a good person without Him.

So God introduced the Law in order to show us that we CANNOT be justified before God by what we do. The problem was not the Law–but that old mindset…the mind set on the flesh…or sin.

Sin is the imagined separate self we think we are. We have this outer image of ourselves that we think is our real true self. It is a delusion.

That self –GOD HAS PUT TO DEATH in the body of His Son on the cross. You died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

You were crucified with Christ, put to death, buried with Him through baptism. That “you” was the old man…Adam…the one who rejected being God’s image….and who opted for his own efforts instead.

Life is found in union with the Tree of Life Himself–Jesus Christ. Death is experienced through trying to keep the Law.

Abiding in Jesus is all we are to do. Result? Righteousness, Holiness, Love Peace Joy Kindness etc etc

Not abiding inside of Jesus but instead striving according to the workings of the Law–Result? Death, self righteousness, self condemned, self accused, pride, lust arises, pretending etc etc…all an outward show.

Being ashamed as a human is because we do not KNOW that God is not against us…God is not accusing us…God is not judging us….God is not pushing us to be good….God is not forcing us to be something better than we are….All that is a result of the Fall and all that died on the cross when Jesus THE MAN took all humanity with Him into death and destroyed him who had the power of death,.

Tell other humans they are forgiven by God already…do not tell them they must do certain things to be forgiven..It is done!! Tell them they are right with God —that they are justified before Him. (Rom 5)

Realise yourself that all those other humans out there are your future brothers and sisters in Christ. None shall be lost…NONE!

It is His kindness that leads us to repentance.

Woman where are those accusers of yours? Neither do I condemn you go and sin no more.
